Periscope launched to huge buzz last March. The live-streaming app took social media by storm, now boasting more than 10 million users watching 40 years of video every day!
Periscope allows you to broadcast messages or have video conversations through your iPhone or Android. These videos can even be watched on the Desktop. You can have your broadcast messages set to private or public, it’s up to you, it’s basically your own broadcasting station and you can go “Live” anytime you want! Once the broadcast is over, others can play it for 24 hours. Your videos are saved automatically to your phone but unfortunately, you will not be able to see the conversations/comments that were happening while you were living.
More and more brands are joining Periscope and it’s becoming clear that live streaming will play a major role in the Digital World in years to come. It’s an excellent way to gain visibility for one’s brand or self-promotion.
An example of a company using Periscope was The Brooks Group. They gave away an Opel Vivaro van and Periscoped 15 minutes before the event. There were 7 finalists who all had keys to the van. One key worked. Watch it here and see the eruption in the room when the winner opens the van door. Watch it here!
Are you a puddle watcher or just bored back after Christmas? A puddle..yes a small pool of rainwater on the ground became a national talking point in England. Over half a million people tuned in to watch Newcastle residents try to cross a giant puddle. The hashtag used #DrummondPuddleWatch was even trending on Twitter. At one point #DrummondPuddleWatch was the second top trending topic on Twitter in the world.
People were literally watching a puddle and couldn’t seem to stop.
