Timoney Group
An elite upgrade for a global engineering powerhouse
We overhauled Timoney Group’s website into a bold, modern platform that reflects its global engineering clout — combining sleek UX, sector-driven content, and a high-impact Aftermarket parts shop.
The brief
You’ve probably heard of the term ‘heavy industry’, and it doesn’t get much heavier than the work of the Timoney Group. The Navan-based company is a world leader in engineering solutions for heavy vehicles, with cutting edge clients in the defence, emergency and construction industries.
Timoney’s website was showing signs of wear and tear after years of service, and they recruited Matrix to create a new online platform that’s as powerful as an all-terrain army vehicle with a Timoney ride and handling system.
Project overview
We initially focused on creating a smooth user experience (UX) and an intuitive user Interface (UI), helped by an engaging workshop series with Timoney’s key stakeholders, including SWOT analysis, benchmarking and defining their target users.
With this foundation, we built a robust and reliable new online platform, with strong, bold fonts, engaging image and video content showing the company’s engineering solutions in the field, and an intuitive menu system for categorising Timoney’s relevant sectors such as defence, construction and fire.
We also created a complementary online spare parts shop that will further drive traffic and conversions, while allowing Timoney to serve its clients instantly across all time zones.
The challenge
The ‘Aftermarket Shop’ is a vast catalogue of essential machine parts, with an intuitive menu and ordering system, a management system for their warehouse in Ireland and the US, and a specific customer discount feature.
Timoney Group is now fully equipped for the future, with a new website doing a lot of the heavy lifting:
- New modern design with high impact bold fonts and content that displays Timoney solutions on the ground;
- Intuitive interface for users to navigate, with custom icons and logical layout of Timoney’s fields of expertise;
- Greater insight into Timoney’s worldwide solutions in numerous sectors, through case studies and prominent explanations of the Group’s work in these different industries;
- Aftermarket service — reassurance that Timoney can offer spare parts, with a huge online catalogue and warehouse management system;
- New WordPress Content Management System (CMS), and training for Timoney staff to update and edit the site’s pages and blog, without external help.
Project goals
Timoney needed a digital platform that matched the sophistication of its engineering — a site that informs, engages, and supports users across industries and timezones:
- Create an online platform that portrays Timoney Group’s complex engineering solutions in an intuitive manner, and acts as an information hub for users before they contact the company with a query
- Showcase the world-class design and engineering capabilities within Timoney
- Streamline the user journey through easy-to-navigate sections and categories
- Create a separate online warehouse for spare parts, as a complementary service
The process
This was a collaboration rooted in precision — with every stage designed to reflect Timoney’s high-performance standards, from initial workshops to a smooth live launch:
- UX discovery workshops to finalise branding direction, functionality requirements and user personas
- Sitemap and tailored design templates created, with client choosing the final design from a selection of options
- Multi-stage development phase of new CMS, with incremental QA and testing, and ongoing feedback between Matrix and Timoney Group
- Live launch of new site
Impact
The new platform delivers clarity, capability and commercial impact — transforming how Timoney communicates its expertise and drives engagement across a global, high-spec market:
- A new site that streamlines complex information and processes into a simple breakdown of Timoney’s essential industry-leading services
- Modern design and future-proofed functionality
- Immediate boost in traffic and enquiries since launch
- A website designed to engage a sophisticated B2B market
- Boost in leads and conversions through the new Aftermarket offering — users encouraged to remain on site
- Timoney marketing team empowered through upskilling in CMS training
